- @QuickQuokka: Thank you, and sorry for the delay in responding. Well, all three designs originate from BBC Derby. According to the original website, the designer of the original concept was Leon Summers, with BBC Derby modifying his submission to create what was known as "Design 3". Which is also exactly what BBC Derby did with Martin Enright's submission, modifying it to create "Design 1" (which was of course chosen as Derbyshire's flag). Hence, I'd recommend giving the new file the same CR tag as "Design 1". Hope this helps. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 15:29, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Snow Lion Fenian: The description page of the file says it's released to the public domain by the author, and supposedly also the author (I don't really believe the uploader is the author), but there's no source to verify that unfortunately. QuickQuokka [talk • contribs] 16:25, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- @QuickQuokka: Good point, and profuse apologies for the excessively long delay in getting back to you. Well, I certainly don't pretend to be an expert on CR licenses on Wikipedia. The impression I've gotten is that the uploader wanted to waive their rights to the file, but went about it the wrong way, resulting in using a license that creates a slight bit of confusion. After considering it all, I'd now recommend giving the new file the "Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported", in order to cover the same bases while making it clear that the uploader is not the original designer. Hope this helps. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 18:43, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

- @QuickQuokka: Oh yes, if you think you can correct the flower, then don't let me stop you. But no pressure if you can't. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 14:34, 3 February 2024 (UTC)

- Request
Hi everyone! I'd like to give a request to see if anyone can please make a vectorized version of the flag of the fictional country of "Grand Fenwick" from the book and movie "The Mouse That Roared"? The design as described in the book and shown in the movie is a red double-headed eagle, one head on the left, the other on the right, with its wings outspread and two scrolls at either side of the eagle, with one reading "Aye!" (or "AYE!", "Aye" or "AYE") near the left head, and one reading "Nay!" (or "NAY!", "Nay" or "NAY") near the right head. This design is in the center of a plain color white field. I also request that the same user who creates the flag of Grand Fenwick also creates the coat of arms of Grand Fenwick, which has an identical design to the flag but with the eagle and scrolls placed on a white shield instead. Besides the two images posted above (though please remember that the coat of arms I posted is inaccurate and is meant to match the flag), here's some more images of the design of both the flag and the coat of arms in these three links posted here https://www.otherworldproject.com/wiki/images/3/34/GFenwick-flag.gif https://www.fotw.info/images/f/fic-gfen.gif. https://ib.frath.net/w/images/0/05/Fenwick_flags.gif (for the last image, the flag is marked with the title "(a) Classic"). This request was originally posted last year but there was no response from any user here, which was disappointing. This time, I hope to get the request fulfilled and I'll be grateful to see it done. Just in case the fact that this was posted on April 1 (April Fools Day) might put people off because they think the request is a joke or a prank, I'd like to say that this request is serious and I actually want it done. Thanks in advance! 93.107.219.204 (talk) 19:55, 1 April 2024 (UTC) Bumping thread. 109.76.71.103 (talk) 19:13, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

Anand Satyanand CoA request[edit]

Carved depiction of the coat of arms of Anand Satyanand

- Article(s)
- Anand Satyanand, Armorial of the governors-general of New Zealand
- Request
- Would someone please be able to make an image of the coat of arms of Anand Satyanand? I'm mainly just interested in the shield, but if you could make the full thing (i.e. with the supporters & crest as well) that would be great too!
- The blazon for his coat of arms is:
- Escutcheon: Gules a White Fronted Tern or Tara (Sterna striata) volant proper between three Trumpet Shells (Charonia tritonis) palewise and in centre chief a Pair of Scales Or.
- Crest: A North Island Brown Kiwi (Apteryx australis mantelli) supporting a Mace representing that of the New Zealand House of Representatives palewise Or and between the Mace and Kiwi a Barrister’s Wig proper.
- Supporters: On either side an Indian Elephant Sable about its neck a Wreath of Karaka (Corynocarpus laevigatus) Vert fructed with orange drupes proper.
- I have attached a photo of a carved depiction of the coat of arms for your reference. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any other versions anywhere.
- Much appreciated in advance!-- Radicuil (talk) 11:36, 2 May 2024 (UTC)

Emblems of Connacht[edit]
-
Arms of Connacht from 1651, in which the arm is wearing a clothed sleeve instead of armour, which should be reflected in the modern versions displayed on Wikipedia (and all other versions of the Connacht emblem outside of WP display a clothed version as well).
-
The versions of the eagle and sword-arm on the Connacht emblem in the bottom-right corner of this particular flag should be used for the rest of these files.
- Article(s)
- Any article these already appear on
- Request
- Alright, I know this may seem like a tall order, but could someone please modify as many as possible of the above files containing the Connacht emblem (except the first two of course) so that the design of both the eagle and the sword-arm match those on the version of the Connacht arms in the first provided file. Thanks. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 11:12, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- Not sure about the desirability of that -- traditional coats of arms are defined by the heraldic blazon, and many different artistic renditions of a textual blazon may be acceptable. Strictly demanding a particular visual appearance is more suitable to corporate logos than traditional heraldry...AnonMoos (talk) 22:22, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- @AnonMoos: Well, the main reason for this request is so that the sword-arm on all versions of the Connacht emblem on Wikipedia will be wearing clothing rather than armour, in line with the 1651 version of the Connacht COA, and indeed any real-life depiction of the Connacht emblem that isn't based on the current Wikipedia version. I've now updated the request to make that clear. Sorry for the confusion. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 23:49, 7 May 2024 (UTC)

This last example shows the chequy band being red & silver, not red & gold. Indefatigable2 talk 16:37, 18 May 2024 (UTC)- A note: the coat of arms of Magalhães should certainly be red and silver (argent and gules), not red and gold, as the one given as Ferdinand Magellan's in the engraving above; but the arms of Ferdinand Magellan himself are disputed. They are clearly described in his last will and testament as those of Magalhães and Sousa, but no one knows for sure which Sousa: ancient (most likely), Arronches, or Prado.
