I did not put in a description because i think that opinion on the circumscription of this family might shift in a few years. I prefer to wait for a DNA study or for coverage of this family in some future volume of The Families and Genera of Vascular Plants. 128.171.106.186 (talk) 21:07, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Someone should start the article "Cardiopteris" and transfer some of this information there. Hopefully, someone will get around to it soon. I probably will not. 128.171.106.105 (talk) 22:27, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Validation of name:

"Blume based his new family on Cardiopteris, a name that had previously been used by John Royle [8] and Nathaniel Wallich,[9] but not validly published.[10]" In fact the authors of the cited paper in [10] came to the opposite conclusion: they believed that Royle had indeed provided sufficient description to validate the name, but even if not, they believed that Blume's use of the name predated Hasskarl's publication of the name Peripterygium and was sufficient for priority purposes. Thus they concluded that Cardiopteris had priority over Peripterygium. 160.111.253.35 (talk) 16:48, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
